Odin, the All-Father, is one of the most iconic characters in fiction. Forged in Norse myths, Odin is one of the strongest of all deities across the different mythologies of the world. In Marvel, Odin retains this mantle, being the King of Asgard and father of the mightiest Avenger, Thor. So, it makes sense that Odin’s place in Marvel Snap is as one of the strongest cards.
At six cost, he’s one of the most expensive cards, but Odin makes that cost worthwhile with his epic eight Power and a very useful On Reveal that can chain well with several other useful cards. Having an Odin in your deck is entertaining by itself because the character is so iconic and powerful, but as it turns out, building a competitive deck around the All-Father does create some exciting possibilities in Marvel Snap.
From the comics to the cinematic universe, where he’s played by Anthony Hopkins, Odin is upheld as one of the strongest heroes in Marvel. He’s the wisest of the Asgardians and was summoned to the Council of Godheads as a feared and respected leader. Thor plays a larger role in much of the core storylines of Marvel, but Odin’s presence is often felt when the trouble either comes to Asgard or deal with much higher-tier villains.
In media, Odin and his son are often portrayed as powerful figures. In the games God of War and God of War Ragnarök, Odin is first shown to be stirring, and then he finally presents himself. Later, he demonstrates his full Power both as a master of disguise and in magic-laced combat. Odin’s invariably among the most powerful characters in any story he’s in. This boost can be huge if you chain it with strong, lower-cost characters.
Ironheart’s a good one to combine with Odin. On Reveal, Ironheart adds two Power to three other cards. With this, Odin can get to ten Power, and with his ability, get two more to move to 12. Combine Odin with Wong, and you’ve got a crazy chain of abilities. Wong makes On Reveal abilities happen twice. So, get Wong down with Odin, and Odin’s ability to repeat other abilities will also trigger Wong again. Add in Ironheart, and you have a stacked team.
Odin is a superb character in fiction and Marvel Snap, wielding his power and influence excellently across the board. With some fun-but-cheap additional abilities in Odin’s location, the All-Father’s ability can be incredibly potent.
